Google, a recent entry into the mass market cell phone sphere, released its latest model, the Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro in late 2021. Going up against the behemoths of the cell phone world with names like Samsung and Apple clogging up many sellers’ aisles, Google has set out to make a name for itself in the competitive field since the inception of its first smart phone, the Pixel in 2016.
This is the first iteration of their phones that has succeeded in snatching away the headlines – and the phone lines – of its competition, earning strong review across the board for both the entry-level and upgraded Pro models of the phones.
Pixel 6 Specs (Base Model)

Front Camera MP: 8
Rear Camera MP: 50
RAM: 6 GB

The specs of the Google Pixel 6, while not flashy across the board, lead to a highly recommendable phone, receiving high marks from CNET, Tom’s Guide, and more. With increasing priority being put on the performance of cameras, the Pixel team focused on improving in this area in particular, overhauling the camera specs and introducing an interesting new feature. The “magic eraser” feature of the built-in photo editor in the Pixel functions in a manner that won’t be foreign to Photoshop users, allowing them to select and “erase” bits from their photos. This can be hugely helpful in situations where tourists clog up a nice landscape shot, or your dog decided to take a jog through the background of your photo.
What may stand out is the price – as $600 for a flagship phone certainly sits towards the lower end of the pricing spectrum, and handily beats out both Samsung and Apple’s traditional new phone pricing structure.
Tactically the phone feels well built, sturdy, and lands nicely in the middle of the “thin but not too thin” spectrum, and the colors offered (Sorta Seafoam, Kinda Coral and Stormy Black) each offer shoppers a unique option to fit their style.
Overall the Pixel 6 receives strong marks across the board for its accessible pricing, strong specs, good support, and exciting native features.
