The 5 Best Smart Toothbrushes On The Market Today

I don’t like brushing my teeth. There, I said it. Maybe it goes back to my days as a child not wanting to follow orders and do such a mundane task twice a day because my parents said so. A lot has changed since those early years though, from my mindset to toothbrush technology. Not only do I know the importance of brushing my teeth, but life is so much easier now with electric toothbrushes.

In the last few years, a ton of new choices have hit the market. After trying out dozens of the top rated toothbrushes on the market, here are the five that stood out most.

1. Oral-B 7000

Price: $129.94 on Amazon

Oral-B is one of the most well-known companies in the world when it comes to oral hygiene, so it is no surprise that they have a number of really great options for anyone in search of the best smart toothbrush on the market. Out of all the ones currently on the market, I felt like the Oral-B 7000 was their best overall value. It is an affordable electric toothbrush that makes the entire brushing experience more efficient and easier.

Top Features

The top feature on the Oral-B Black 7000 SmartSeries is the smartphone connectivity. There are so many things in my daily life that are now able to connect to my smart phone, so doing it with my toothbrush is no big deal. The setup process was simple, and in just about a minute I was able to unlock all these new features I’ve never experienced while brushing before.

The toothbrush itself certainly is not lacking, with 3D cleaning thanks to the CrossAction brush head. The bristles are able to completely surround each tooth, providing a full cleaning.

I felt like the smart phone features and the brush heads both work well. Yes, there are some features I probably will never use other than to say “that’s cool” on my phone, but it is nice to get feedback.

The brush head is ultimately what made me really love this smart toothbrush. I did feel like I was able to get a deep clean each time with the flexibility of the head and the bristles. It was easy with the shape of the head to give each tooth individual attention to really step up my oral care.

Battery and Performance

I read a few reviews online saying that battery life wasn’t the best, and unfortunately, that proved to be true. I’m having to charge my Oral-B Black 7000 about every other day to play it safe. It really is nothing more than a minor inconvenience though, since it sits in my bathroom during the day. I just wish the battery lasted longer so I did not have to take the charger on short trips.

Performance is solid when charged, although it does operate pretty loudly. Those jumping to an electronic toothbrush for the first time might also notice that it feels rough at first. Even I noticed that a bit, but once you get used to the amount of pressure you need to apply, everything works as it should.

The overall life of the brush heads were normal, and easy to replace when needed. Replacements are easy to find online and in stores, and they are affordable.

Feedback and Motivation

If you would have told my younger self that my toothbrush would come with a built-in coach and the daily news, I’d have thought you were crazy. Oral-B’s app with the 7000 SmartSeries is really pretty amazing. With a bluetooth connection, I’m able to get feedback, motivation and tracking when it comes to my brushing habits. Chances are, there is at least one thing you could do better when brushing, and the smart toothbrush has a way of knowing your weaknesses.

Two minutes might not seem like a long time, but it can drag if you are in a hurry. Instead of playing the guessing game, the app allows me to catch up on the news and weather during that time. Multitasking at its finest.

Final Thoughts

The Oral-B 7000 is a smart toothbrush for those who love, or are intrigued, with numbers. Just do not overlook the fact that it also has one of the best brush heads on the market.

2. Philip Sonicare Diamond Clean

Price: $160.00 on Amazon

I didn’t want to love the most expensive electric toothbrush sold by Philips, but once I demoed it, it truly felt like an all-in-one oral care solution that everyone is hoping for.

Battery and Performance

Battery life on the Phillip Sonicare DiamondClean is pretty impressive. On a full charge, it was able to last for a few weeks. That makes it pretty easy to take on the road and not need the full charging kit in order to get through things. It also helps that it has a USB charging travel case for those people who might be off for a long amount of time.

Performance is very strong throughout, and the different settings allow a person to really adjust just how harsh the toothbrush might be. Some people want to have a very easy, laid back first brush their teeth. Others are just going to be wanting to jump right in and have an intense session. No matter what type of brush or a person is, the right amount of pressure can be applied with just a push of a button.

Feedback and Motivation

There are a number of unique features on the toothbrush for people who really want to revolutionize how they are cleaning their teeth. I was someone who never really figured out how to do things with a manual toothbrush, so getting guidance along the way is certainly very helpful. Specifically, I never could really take care of my gums, so for me I use the gum care mode most often.

Other modes besides gum care include clean, white, sensitive and deep clean. These all serve a purpose at certain times, so so playing around with it as much as possible makes sense.

Most smart toothbrushes have timers of some sort to work with, but diamond clean actually has two different timers for a person to stay on track. The smart timer is going to keep a person on track to brush for at least 24 minutes, while the quad pacer make sure that each quadrant of the mouth gets the same amount of attention. This is a subtle addition that just really makes things a little bit easier for those transitioning to a brand new toothbrush.

The motivation when using this toothbrush is very high. Not only does it keep everything in order, but it is pretty easy to notice a difference almost right away. The results
