Tesla Automotive is Successful and Leaving Traditional Car Manufacturers Behind

In the past year, foreign and domestic car manufacturers have been struggling. Some of the problems car manufacturers have faced include less demand for new cars, global chip problems have caused delivery delays, emission issues, and more. Tesla seems to be the only car company that is thriving.

In 2003, Tesla car company was founded in San Carlos, Calif. Tesla is more of an energy company than an automotive company. These days people are ready for an alternative to putting gasoline in the car tank. A few years ago, some people were buying hybrid cars that could run on gas or energy. In 2021, Tesla’s electrically charged cars sold more cars in 2021 than in 2020. Shortages of computer chips, have caused car manufacturers, like GM, Ford, Mercedes, and others to lay off workers, causing factories to close for about a month. Computer chip shortages and other problems have caused car prices to go up. Many car buyers found Tesla prices more affordable. The electric car businesses could put traditional car companies out of business.

People are concerned about the environment like cleaner air and water. Electric is cleaner and more economical than oil and gasoline. Traditional car executives need to know Tesla is serious competition.

The Tesla company was not able to get many of the car computer chips traditional companies use, Tesla took whatever computer chips they could find and create their own software program. Tesla is an independent auto and energy manufacturer that has learned to do things on their own and not rely on suppliers having specific parts. The recovery of the car market that occurred after the pandemic took many car manufacturers by surprise. Tesla was ready for the demand and pressed on to make their quota.

Witnessing what is going on with Tesla, many car manufacturers, like Mercedes Benz and Ford, are hiring programmers and engineers to design computer chips especially for their use instead of ready made computer chips from auto part vendors. Companies like Mercedes and Ford have acknowledged that today’s cars are computerized and have gadgets like seeing obstructions when driver backs up, and many more gadgets that help prevent car accidents.
