Segway Announces Fresh Lineup in Personal Transportation

Segway is moving on from its original transporter. Most people are familiar with the company’s two-wheeled platform. These self-balancing devices are seen zipping around metros and used on many city tours, but the leadership decided to stop production and move on to electric mopeds and scooters. To promote the new lineup, Segway officials are crisscrossing America. While visiting the tour, fans will learn about the eco-friendly features and modern technology tucked away in the e-riders.

Locking System

It has just gotten a lot easier to secure the newest Segway scooters because of sensors. The latest models will detect your key and unlock itself when you get within a few feet of the machine. The engineers developed smart seats that know when you and a passenger are on the bike. You can also use your phone to unlock them via a secret code app. Your phone has become the key fob.

Theft

These scooters will be hard to steel because of anti-theft protection. Movement and rocking cause the system to activate, and it will send you a text message alerting you of unusual activity. An alarm will sound when a would-be robber tries to push the Segway. If the wheels move while it is locked, the movement will trigger the system.

Battery

An e-moped will take you over 30 miles between charges. If you need a longer range, a next-level battery is available. The top speeds will be around 30 MPH. A smart system is hooked into the batteries and monitors your remaining power and speed. You will know when it is quickly draining or undercharged. Users can control the charging speed also. The easy-to-read dashboard will alert you to problems and let you know when you’ve got plenty of power.

Storage

The designers worked in extra storage under the two-person seat. There is enough space for you to store two helmets or a few grocery items. The battery sits underneath the floorboard, which leaves room up top and lowers the center of gravity. This configuration makes it easier to stabilize and maneuver through heavy traffic.

Consumers can purchase these environmentally-friendly e-riders in white, black, and red.
